Shayla: Thanks for joining us today for the Roof Life of Oregon podcast. I’m talking with Patrick Morin today. Patrick, I was looking on your website today and under the real estate roof certification section, you talk a lot about the benefits of roof certification and, specifically for real estate agents, why should they be interested in getting a roof certification or recommended one to their clients, their buyers and their sellers?

Patrick: Excellent question. You know, in the last five years as we’ve been developing this service to help realtors, and their buyers and sellers, to the real estate agent, there’s really four benefits that really come home to roost. I wrote them down. They’re also on our website. But the biggest thing is a quicker sale with less drama. You’re going to have so many hurdles that have to be jumped over in selling a home, as you well know, and the roof is just one big one that kills a lot of deals, or that has people walk away, and that’s usually a mandatory expectation from lenders to have at least a five-year lifespan in this roof. And especially when your buyers are coming in with ten, twenty, and thirty percent down, so the lenders are covering 90, 80 and 70 percent of the structure cost. So they want to know that the roof covering that investment of theirs is going to be solid and you’re going to have time in that home. So a quicker sale with less drama.

Happier clients. We know that when deals flow through, everything’s laid out, they can see what they’re expected to do, that everything goes through smoothly. They’re going to run into bumps, as you know, in all these different areas of their home that they had no idea needed help. The roof is one that they can’t walk on, they can’t really see. They get a video inspection from Roof Life so they can see it, they can sense it, they can understand it, and they are happier that you referred them to us.

A higher selling price. When you go out on a home and the roof is in excellent shape, not one problem, that’s an idea that you could maybe ask more for the home, versus a home that can’t get a certification, or that only barely hits that five-year mark, because you know your buyers and sellers, they’re going to get their own inspection, and they’re going to have their own opinion. You want to have a concrete, dead on assessment of the roof, it’s life expectancy and its cost. So that you can have something to negotiate.

And then the biggest thing that we find that our realtors love is that they get more referrals. A happy client refers you and it builds your book of business so you’re able to serve more people and have a better lifestyle.
