It’s always a good idea to do your due diligence before hiring a contractor to work on your roof. You can use contractor review websites for a reference, but you can’t rely on them alone.
We’ve been around for thirty-four years, so Roof Life of Oregon has gotten to know other roofing companies in the area. The other day I was driving and saw a truck in front of me that had a logo I didn’t recognize.
I thought, “Huh, that’s strange.” I took a closer look and saw that this roofer also had a big decal for a special award, given out by a popular contractor review site.
I decided to look him up and found out this contractor has only been in business for one month. So how does he already have this special award?
Well, many of these sites are pay-for-play. If a company is paying the review site, they’re going to get benefits. It doesn’t necessarily mean that they are any good at what they do.
Before you trust a review site, do your own research. Contact the Oregon Construction Contractors Board and find out how long they’ve been in business and what insurance they carry.
Simply put: be careful. Do your research beyond contractor review sites.
