It’s always fun to put up Christmas lights yourself (is it?), but it can be dangerous, if you don’t take proper precautions. I’m all for doing it yourself, but we want you to be safe!
Here are three tips to help you this holiday season.
- Use the Right Ladder
First things first: pick the right ladder for the job. Don’t use something that’s floppy, or wood. Avoid stepladders and A-frames. Instead, choose an extension ladder that extends three rungs above the gutter line.
- Use Proper Footing
You want to stay focused while you’re on a ladder. While you’re putting up the lights, try to keep three points of contact with your hands and feet at all times.
- Take a Peak at Your Roof
It’s not often you get this view of your roof. It’s a great time to look for moss, debris or other issues that might be visible. If it’s been awhile since you’ve had maintenance, put it on your to-do list to call Roof Life of Oregon.
Getting on and roof your roof is extremely unsafe. It’s something we do at Roof Life every single day, but we have the proper equipment, ladders, stand-offs, and safety gear. This Christmas, have fun decorating your home, but be careful. And call us if you see any thing on your roof that doesn’t look quite right.
